How to Use the Tool

Step 1 — Enter your date of birth. Under the Date of birth group, choose the Month, Day, and Year from the three dropdowns. Step 2 — Set the age as of date. The Age as of date group uses the same Month / Day / Year layout and a matching Pick date pop-up. By default it is set to today, in your browser's local timezone, the first time the page loads. Change it if you want to know your age on a specific past or future date.

Step 3 — Click Calculate age. Press the Calculate age button (it is a type="button" control, so nothing is submitted to a server).

Step 4 — Read the Result. A Result heading appears showing your age as years, months, and days, followed by the same span expressed as months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Large numbers are formatted with thousands separators (for example, 13,092 days).

If something is off — a birth date that comes after the as-of date, an impossible date like February 31, or a year outside the supported range — the tool shows a short message instead of crashing.

Worked Examples

Here are a few real date pairs and the kind of output you would see. (Exact day counts depend on the calendar, but the structure is what matters.)

Tips and Best Practices

• Watch leap years. February 29 exists only in leap years (divisible by 4, except most century years). The calculator accounts for this, so a leap-day birthday compares correctly against non-leap years.
• Mind your timezone. Both dates are interpreted in your browser's local timezone. If you were born just after midnight in one timezone and the cutoff is measured in another, the day boundary can shift the result by a day.
• Use the as-of date for cutoffs. Many legal, insurance, or school deadlines are phrased as "must be at least X years old on [date]." Set the as-of date to that deadline to check eligibility precisely.
• Legal vs. casual use. For official documents (retirement, contracts, benefits), confirm which convention the authority uses — some count completed years only, others count to the day. This tool shows the full calendar breakdown so you can read either way.
